I'll get around to it eventually…

I Fail with Computers

I should have updated earlier, sorry.

This post is not about a view or anything, but I feel I ought to say it anyway.

While working with the footage recorded on Saturday, I realised that I was running seriously low on Memory (under 1GB), so I decided that I ought to do a clean up.
When I meantioned this to others they told me that I should get rid of footage once I had put it up on Youtube. I was going to use the footage again, but they had a point.

I came to the conclusion that I should delete my videos that I had already put up on Youtube and keep the raw footage that was recorded.

At this point, I should mention that my computer has a weird way of saving the footage and vids that doesn’t make sense. I also had not backed-up my files because they were too big, I had nowhere to do it, and I, honestly, forgot (so I’ve only got myself to blame).

I selected what I thought to be the vids, and sent them to the recycling bin. When I emptied the bin, 49 files wouldn’t delete (a good thing in retrospect, I guess), leaving the 21 that did to be sent to their fate.

When the files wouldn’t delete, I checked my free memory and saw that it had shot up to 6GB, so I ignored them and returned to the footage I was still processing… and that’s where I realised that I had made an error.

It had not taken me long to learn that what I was certain was my videos was actually my footage, so I returned what was left in the bin to its folder and started to panic.

I have now quaranteed my computer and are using two separate, free restoration software packages in an attempt to get back what was lost.

Worst case scenario is: I’ve lost all the footage and will not be able to finish putting the vids recorded onto youtube.

And just so that you know, I have saved stuff as well during this incident so I know that some of it has been lost for good. I just hope that I can get what is left, which should be a lot.

Deviantart

Deviantart is (for those who don;t know) a website that is designed so that people can show off creative talent, be it drawing, writing, animation, etc.

Before I begin, this is not a rant, hell no! I would like to sign up to it except I have little artist ability worth noting and I feel that if someone joins something like Deviantart or youtube, that the make some sort of contribution and I don’t just mean subscribing to people and making comments. …But that’s not what I want to talk about, I want to recommend some artists that I like to check for updates.

Just so that you know: I mostly (uh… unofficially "follow") these artists not so much because of content (though that does have some input on my opinion of their work) but because of their style of art. Now, I am not an artist, so this is my opinion of "good", I do not know what whether this is generally agreed or just my personal opinion.

Righty then, the Artists: (note: OC =  Original Character)

Sigurdhosenfeld: This guy is brilliant, bit of a Peach fan, but amazing none the less. He Mainly does Mario series Fanart in what I guess to be an Animé art style. His work generally consists of Portraits of Characters

TheBourgyman: Another Mario Fanartist, his work is cartoony and holds a rather simple humour to it. His work tends to be more comics / single scenarios staring either Mario characters or His OC.

Natsilva: Similar to the Bourgyman, this artist does both Mario and her (what I guess are) OCs. Her working is very cartoonistic and consists mostly of Comics and single scenarios.

Yuina19: This artist does brilliant manga style art. Her work consists a lot of The Legend of Zelda portrait fanart.

Feena-chan: Another Manga artist (I think). This content of the art is largely Mario Fanart and her avatar (which is a character from a game, I can’t remember her name) and is Mostly single scenarios, with a good number of animations in her gallery.

Karbo: This artist does Manga and mostly about his OCs and their fantasy world. A lot of his work contains vore (eating creatures, usually people, alive), and most of it is behind Mature Filters so I can only give a limited recommendation. He also has a book, more info on his deviantart page.

This is it for the artists. Whether or not you go take a look is your choice. I state agian that that I little knowledge on art so… please don’t complain if I got any of the style names wrong.

Anime, Games, and Film

This got to stop.
Live action films do not mix with games or anime, why can’t movie producers see that until they’ve turned the franchise into a dung-pile.
While games and anime tend to mix rather well, this is because both can fit designs around each other, characters can be portrayed as their supposed to be without probelms, events can happen without making the whole thing look fake, because the whole thing isn’t real in the first place. Nobody walks into anime characters in the street, or randomly go into turn based battles. This is lost in films.

The producers and directors (I’m blaming them because they generally tend to be in charge of how things happen in the movie) just seem to pick a popular or well known franchise, game, etc. Do a minute bit of research so that they know who the characters are and who kills who. Then &£$% it up by creating their own story, character backgrounds, etc so that the only real link between the Movie and the franchise is that it shares the same name and the main characters may be able to pretent to be their original selves as they were portrayed in the franchise the Movie makers seem so keen to destroy.

Take the Super Mario Bros. movie for example: It was aimed at fans of the franchise… and had little connection what-so-ever to the series. Goombas are not 8 feet tall, Yoshi has little connection to a dinosaur (despite actually being called one, he / she / it is closer related to some form of dragon)… come on, be serious here!
There was a feature length anime of Super Mario Bros. that fit the game a lot better. It got everything right (more or less, the Mario bros. were grocers in the film, but nothing’s perfect), and, hell, it even used something that would become reknown in Super Mario 64 (I’m not gonna spoil it, found out for yourselves!)

Another example is the Dragonball Movie. I haven’t seen it, I’m not going to because it will hurt. In the film, Goku was in high school (wrong!), Gohan dies at the hands of Piccolo (wrong!), Ozaru is the name of Piccolo’s disciple (Now you’re not even trying). It is mistakes like these that cause the film to fall flat, if you are gonna make a live action film of a series (please, don’t), get your facts straight!
The DragonBall series has tons of feature length anime which fit nicely in with the series (if not the timeline in which they are set), so why make an live action?

I don’t know how or why it is that they suck, but Live Action Films do not work from anime, manga, games, etc

What is really upsetting though is that another one is in production… and its Shadows of the Collosus. Now, come on! If you are gonna kill something, make sure that its a big enough franchise to survive the blow. Mario and Dragonball, are very big franchises, Shadows of the Collosus is a one shot game that is not going to expand from that, it doesn’t need to. The game is very good, it doesn’t have much in the way of plot though. Characters have a quick back story, not much happens in between the start and finish of the game in the way of plot, with the story only kicking into gear about 4 fiftths of the way through of the game.

There ought to be a way of stopping people from doing this sort of this!
